Zamtel to Provide Fiber-Optic Telecommunication Services to Zambia

Zamtel announced that it has inked a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Botswana Telecommunications to link a fiber-optic cable through Kazungula, Zambia. The project will enable Zamtel to offer dependable, efficient and cost-effective telecommunication services. The project is anticipated to be executed in nearly three to four months.

Amon Jere, CEO of Zamtel stated that the MoU would allow the company to offer high-quality telecommunication services to the people of Zambia. Jere commented that both the companies would share the cost of the project equally, and develop a joint project management group to manage all the aspects of the project.

The project, after implementation, would improve the speed and quality of data and internet services, while decreasing the internet services and international connectivity cost. Every citizen of Zambia should have access to high-quality broadband internet through fixed internet and mobile internet through ADSL, Jere added.
