Supplier of optical networking products, Transmode, has received a major contract from Teracom to deliver an optical networking solution in Sweden. The network infrastructure will include high-definition television (HDTV) and similar value-added services.
Teracom provides television and radio services to broadcast customers in Sweden. The company required an optical network to manage the traffic because of increased number of HDTV channels. The optical ring will deliver the required transmission between Gothenberg, Malmö, Stockholm and other key areas. The optical ring currently supports 10 and 2.5 G transmission and will support 40/100 G transmission in the future.
Transmode has delivered a 40-channel DWDM network, enabling Teracom to modify the transmission control and wavelength configuration. Teracom is installing Transmode’s TM-Series network solution in its latest network to deliver numerous services to the customers.
Teracom’s Chief Technical Officer, Peo Gaasvik, stated that the company was looking for cost, flexibility and modularity and Transmode was able to meet these criteria. Easy plug-and-play additions will enable them to upgrade the network easily, Gaasvik said.
Transmode’s Sales Vice President, Björn Andersson, commented that the company is happy to acquire the contract, and the versatility of the company’s systems allows clients to configure the optic networks that are customized to meet their specific requirements.
