Equatorial Guinea to Deploy Advanced Telecommunication Services

The Ministry of Transport, Technology, Posts and Telecommunications of Equatorial Guinea is planning to set up telecommunication services such as internet and phone across  the country.

The project is a part of the government’s Horizon 2020 plan. Several projects such as network development and installation of fiber optic submarine cable between the island and the mainland area are already being executed.

Equatorial Guinea is also taking part in an ACE (Africa Coast to Europe) project, which is supported by 14 African operators and France Telecom. The project will include a 17,000 km fiber optic cable, which will begin in France to connect Europe to Africa. The project will connect over 23 nations and is expected to be completed by 2012.

The Minister of Transport, Technology, Posts and Telecommunications of Equatorial Guinea, Vicente Ehate Tomi, commented that the government is also installing a submarine fiber optic cable to link Bata and Malabo. He added that the government is working to implement the projects so as to meet the goals set by the National Economic Conference.
