Avalon Develops 100G GMP Application for Optical Equipment Manufacturers

Avalon Microelectronics announced that it has developed a 100G GMP adaptation application that can be interfaced with the Yahara 10G Framer/Mapper/PHY device from AppliedMicro. The Yahara 10G device has the potential to map any 10G client to a pODTU-24 frame at the rate of a common clock for effective execution of 100G Muxponder application.

The 100G GMP adaptation changes the mapped information in pODTU-24 format into the standard GMP mapping. The GMP application can be interfaced with many Yahara devices for mapping 10G clients to a rate of 100G line.

The partnership between both the companies shows their dedication to develop technologies in the emerging 100G space. The founder of Avalon, Wally Haas, said that the 100G GMP application enables optical equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to benefit from the energy savings and size offered by the Yahara device for an effective 100G muxponder applications.

The VP of AppliedMicro’s Transport and Datacom Business Unit, Sandeep Gupta, said that OEMs are ready to execute the new 100G standards to meet the increasing demands.
