APD Chip Provides Affordable Solution for Fiber-to-the-Home Networks

JDSU today announced that it is now shipping an avalanche photo detector (APD) chip designed for gigabit passive optical networks (GPONs) that enable data transmissions for fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) offerings. The new APD chip provides high functionality at a low cost, making it ideal for FTTH deployments.

Enablence Technologies Inc., a developer of Fiber-to-the-Home (FTTH) transceivers for optical modems, today announced that it has signed a definitive agreement to acquire all of the outstanding shares of ANDevices Inc., subject to certain approvals, consents and conditions. ANDevices is a supplier of Planar Lightwave Circuit (PLC) based photonic devices for the Access, Metro and Long-Haul communication markets and is based in Fremont, California.

AT+T Announces New Optical Networking Contract with MMSD
