Lightspeed Design to Unveil New DepthQ Polarization Modulator for Single Lens HD 3D Projection at IAAPA EXPO

Lightspeed Design, Inc. announced today that it will debut the new DepthQ(R) Polarization Modulator for single lens HD 3D projection solutions at the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Expo (IAAPA-Booth #5456), Las Vegas, Nevada, November 17-20. The new modulator, available in two sizes, will be paired with the DepthQ(R) HD 3D Projector to demonstrate small applications and the Christie(R) Mirage Projector to demonstrate large theaters.

Cypress Semiconductor Announces Recently Launched ESA Proba-2 Satellite Incorporate its CMOS Image Sensors

Cypress Semiconductor Corp. (NYSE:CY) today announced three of its state-of-the-art CMOS Image Sensors for space applications are on-board the European Space Agency’s (ESA) Proba-2 Satellite, which was successfully launched on November 2. Cypress’s new HAS2 image sensor, specially designed for high accuracy star tracking, is implemented on a new Star Tracker developed by SELEX Galileo of Italy. The HAS2 image sensor is also being used in an extreme-ultraviolet telescope scientific experiment for solar corona observation. Additionally, Cypress’s STAR-250 image sensor is used on a new Digital Sun Sensor developed by TNO of the Netherlands. Both the HAS2 and STAR-250 devices were developed for the ESA by Cypress’s Image Sensor Business Unit in Belgium.

Clearfield to Deploy FTTH for Garden Valley Telephone Company in Minnesota

Clearfield, Inc. (NASDAQ: CLFD) products and services have been selected by Garden Valley Telephone Company for a fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) deployment in northwestern Minnesota. Based in Erskine, Minn., Garden Valley Telephone Company (GVTEL) is one of the largest telephone cooperatives in the state, serving 24 exchanges. The new deployment will encompass almost 500 route miles in and around Erskine, McIntosh, Winger, Gatzke, and St. Hilaire, Minnesota.

Walmart Selects Cree LED Lighting for its New Stores and Renovations

Cree, Inc. (Nasdaq: CREE), a market leader in LED lighting, has been selected to provide energy-efficient LED lighting to Walmart for new stores and renovations. Walmart plans to install Cree LRP-38 LED light bulbs in 650 stores during the first year, replacing ceramic metal halide in the produce and electronics departments. NIST and University of Colorado to Develop Laser-Based Device to Search for Extrasolar Planets

The National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) will collaborate with the University of Colorado at Boulder (CU) to build and apply a custom laser-based instrument—a frequency comb—to help search for extrasolar Earth-like planets. The National Science Foundation has awarded CU a $495,000 grant for the joint project.
