Complete Analysis of Fiber Optic Networks and Major Operators in Thailand

Research and Markets has released a new report called the ‘Thailand - Fixed Networks and Major Operators’. The report offers an overview of Thailand’s voice services and a few major operators in the fiber optic network sectors. The report also provides a detailed analysis of the Thai Telephone &Telecommunications (TT&T), fixed network operators, international networks and financial rehabilitation plan.

In Thailand, majority of fixed-line services have been replaced by mobile phone services at a ratio of approximately 9:1. However, the fixed-line services still remain a central part of the country’s telecommunications environment, and this is attributed to an 11% teledensity in 2009.

The Ministry of Information & Communications Technology undertook an initiative to promote the Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) broadband services in order to improve the copper network. Although a better infrastructure was laid to support the data communication services, a significant growth in this market segment was noticed only in 2006/07. Two years later, the broadband internet market in Thailand still remained about 3%.
