Digital Ally announced that the Wisconsin State Patrol has placed an order for its advanced in-car digital video systems called the DVM-500 Plus. The order, which is priced at about $750,000, is the largest purchase made by the State of Wisconsin. Digital Ally provides sophisticated video surveillance solutions for homeland security and law enforcement applications.
The CEO of Digital Ally, Stanton E. Ross, said that Wisconsin was one of the first clients to sign a statewide contract with the company, and the deal enabled other government agencies such as the state, municipal, county and other law enforcement organizations in Wisconsin to buy the DVM products at the same prices.
The company also informed that it has obtained a number of orders for its newly launched LaserAlly Light Detection and Ranging (LIDAR) systems. The LIDAR system is used for detecting vehicle speeds and helps cops and other enforcement officials to locate the direction and speed of the vehicle precisely. The LIDAR system utilizes light waves to determine the speed and differs from other conventional RADAR systems, which use only radio waves. The system also has a narrow beam that enables operators to locate a speeding vehicle even in heavy traffic.
Ross said that the LaserAlly LIDAR system has received favorable results from a number of law enforcement organizations. The LaserAlly is capable of reading vehicle speeds even when the vehicles are fitted with LIDAR jammers, he informed.
