Toshiba announced that it has signed an agreement with the Louvre Museum to provide advanced lighting solutions for their renovation project. The company will provide its sophisticated LED lighting systems to some of the most visited public places in the museum. The duration of the agreement is from June 30, 2010 to Dec 31, 2023.
Toshiba will replace the low-efficient xenon lights in the Louvre Museum with energy-efficient, low-CO2 and eco-friendly LED lighting products. The Pyramids, which welcome the visitors as they enter the museum, will be provided with Toshiba LED lighting systems. Other prominent places that would be provided with LED lighting are Cour carrée and the Napoleon Court. The Cour carrée is expected to be completed by 2012, while the Pyramid and the Napoleon Court will be completed by 2011.
Toshiba has expanded its lighting business to international markets such as Germany, UK and France. The company’s LED lamps were introduced in France on January 2010.
Toshiba has stopped manufacturing incandescent bulbs from March 2010.
