Rambus and GE to Develop Next-Generation LED Lighting Products

GE Lighting and Rambus have signed a licensing deal to produce advanced LED lighting products for global market. Under the agreement, GE will utilize Rambus’ unique lighting solutions, manufacturing process and product reference designs. Initially, the priority will be given for developing a flat LED lighting system for commercial and architectural lighting  applications.

GE Lighting’s CEO and President, Michael B. Petras, Jr., stated that the company’s aim is to speed up the introduction of advanced lighting solutions into the market so as to accelerate their use in residential and commercial markets. The new agreement will enable the company to provide their clients a large number of novel LED products, he added.

Rambus’s Lighting and Display Technology President, Jeff Parker, stated that GE complements well with the company’s requirements, and will enable them to develop next-generation LED lighting solutions that are both cost-and-energy-efficient.

The licensing platform allows GE to access Rambus’ next-generation lighting technology for a wide range of novel LED illumination products. Rambus’ lighting products are patented innovations that enable manufactures to exploit the LEDs’ benefits by utilizing economical, high-output LEDs.
