New Portable Coordinate Measuring Machine from Creaform

NeoMetrix Technologies announced that the new Creaform HandyProbe system has filled the gap between the Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) and the laser trackers for 3-D measurements. The new system addresses the portability limitations of CMMs and the line of sight issues of the laser trackers while measuring smaller parts.  The system is a combination of a C-Track optical tracker and a hand-held probe.

The C-Track optical tracker monitors the orientation and position of the probe continuously. The optical tracker also targets positioned on the part, facilitating measurement of parts with a maximum length of 3 m, from one position. As it positions the reference targets on the part, the C-Track can be repositioned for several times during the measurement. The optical tracker offers accuracy without any degradation.

Neometrix President, Dan Perreault, stated that they believe the HandyProbe is the next-generation portable CMM. He added that with reasonable investment, the HandyProbe offers solutions for diverse measuring applications.
