GAO Fiber Optics Launches New Palm-Sized Optical Time-Domain Reflectometer

GAO Fiber Optics has recently launched its portable handheld optical time-domain reflectometer (OTDR).

Handheld GAO2000 OTDR

The GAO 2000 handheld OTDR has been deployed in fault point location and loss characteristics analysis in the optical networks’ production, maintenance and installation. The compact, user-friendly reflectometer is an ideal option for field testing.

The GAO reflectometer is compatible with ISP, telecommunications optical networks and CATV. It displays the fiber’s attenuation coefficient, loss distribution curves, fault points, length and connection point. It also shows the return loss and slice loss. When a test result is viewed in the ODTR, a maximum of six test results can be  observed and compared simultaneously. It offers two on-screen markers with a zoom in/out option. The printout of the event analysis list and test results can be obtained by using the print-screen-function. The print-screen-option allows the uploading of data to a PC. The ODTR supports a battery that allows long and continuous operation.
