SecuGen Secures Optical Fingerprint Devices Patents in Japan and Canada

SecuGen, an optical fingerprint device manufacturer, reported that it has been granted patents in Japan and Canada. The company has been awarded a patent in Japan for its “High Contrast, Low Distortion Optical Acquisition System for Image Capturing” creation.

In Canada, the company secured patent rights for its “Optical Fingerprint Image Capturing System,” and “Method and Apparatus for Reduction of Trapezoidal Distortion and Improvement of Image Sharpness in an Optical Image Capturing System” inventions.

At present, the company holds 35 patents in over a dozen countries. The sensors of SecuGen are reputed for taking high quality images and for being tough. The sensors are made of a highly scratch-resisting hardened glass. These sensors are used in all of the company’s OEM fingerprint modules and USB fingerprint readers.

The company supplies its fingerprint readers through several partners including hardware manufacturers and system integrators. More than 80 countries currently use SecuGen’s products.

Chief Executive Officer of SecuGen, Won Lee, stated that the company has been producing a wide range of fingerprint biometric products for government and commercial implementations, for over a decade. He further commented that SecuGen would continue to work hard to produce next-generation products.
