Sorrento to Participate in Next Generation Optical Networking Conference

Sorrento Networks is going to participate in the WDM and Next Generation Optical Networking Conference in Monte Carlo, Monaco. The company will display the GigaMux 3200 and the GigaEdge 232 WDM platforms at the conference. The conference is mainly organized to study the latest industry developments such as the optical transport network (OTN) deployments, 40G/100G trials and advanced network automation solutions.

The GigaMux WDM platform will allow service providers to supply optical wavelength services with fewer management requirements and at a much lower cost. The GigaMux platform has a protocol-independent design that enables various types of networks such as the layer 2/3 Ethernet, SANs and SONET/SDH to transfer and extend the traffic concurrently. The platform’s superior flexibility enables customers to upgrade their bandwidth based on their requirements. The company also provides storage area networks (SAN) and Gigabit Ethernet solutions to its European customers.

Sorrento Networks’ Chief Executive Officer, Jim Nevelle, stated that in view of the increased demand for high bandwidth services, the WDM sector is expanding at a rapid rate. He added that the company’s products are developed to meet the needs of individual customer requirements.
