SANYO North America Corporation’s two new ultra short-focus projectors with 3D capability, PDG-DWL2500 and PDG-DXL2000, will be on display at InfoComm 2010 in June. The PDG-DWL2500 contains a WXGA resolution and renders 2,500 lumens of brightness whereas the PDG-DXL2000 has a XGA resolution and generates 2,000 lumens.
The projectors function at an extremely short distance from the display surface because of the unique ultra short-focus mirror projection optical unit. The projectors deliver a maximum image size of either 90 or 110 inches. To display 3D content, the projectors use the Frame Sequential Display Format that works concurrently with the Active Shutter 3D glasses.
Reduction in the size of the optical components and usage of the one-chip DLP engine have resulted in reduced size of the new models when compared to previous generation SANYO models. The projectors feature an onboard 10-watt audio amplifier and a mono loudspeaker. The models comply with the EuP-Directive Lot 6 that helps in energy reduction and the EU RoHS Directive that aids in avoiding the use of hazardous substances in electronic components.
Sam Malik, vice president of SANYO North America Consumer Solutions Division, said that these new projectors would find applications in areas where projectors could not be used earlier. He further claimed that the large 3D widescreen image projection would provide unique solutions for many current and future applications.
