FARO to Supply 62 Laser Tracker ION Units to Airbus

FARO Technologies reported that it has been selected to be the key laser track supplier of the aircraft manufacturer Airbus. Under the five-year deal, FARO will supply laser trackers along with measurement accessories for assembly line of the A350 aircraft. As a result of the new agreement, the company’s laser trackers will be installed in all Airbus manufacturing facilities in Europe.

The new deal is for the supply of 62 Laser Tracker ION units of FARO, while covering the aircraft manufacturer’s key system providers for production systems and fixtures. This agreement compliments the company’s earlier supply order of 33 units, which are in operation from 2002. The previous deal included the assembly of main body section for the A380 aircraft in Germany, U.K., and France.

The Vice President of Sales & Marketing at FARO Europe Juan-Pablo Lemaitre said that the new order from Airbus confirms that they have proven to be Airbus’ key supplier for manufacturing processes. It also shows that their Laser Tracker is an advanced product that facilitates high-precision measurements, fulfills the challenging needs and supports latest manufacturing methods, he added.
