ECN and JA Solar Collaborate to Launch Efficient Photovoltaic Modules

A leading producer of solar power products, JA Solar Holdings has announced its partnership with the Energy research Centre of the Netherlands (ECN) to launch metal wrap through (MWT) solar module and cell technology into production. The announcement was made at Intersolar Europe.

ECN and JA Solar will collaborate to manufacture efficient and cost effective solar modules. The MWT technology reduces the shading loss at the front surface of the cell, thus increasing the solar cell’s front surface region. The assembling process of the solar modules can be completely automated by using an Eurotron equipment.

JA Solar’s Senior Vice President and Chief Technical Officer, Yong Liu, stated that the company is pleased to work with ECN to produce advanced MWT technology for efficient solar modules. The MWT solar cell technology can increase the efficiency of photovoltaic module conversion along with high power output and reduced-material cost.

Eurotron’s Commercial Director, Bram Versc, stated that the company is happy to leverage ECN’s support to bring their latest technology into the market.
