Beijing Omate Digital Technology Co., Ltd will be utilizing industrial Ethernet switches from Sixnet solutions for its tunnel projects in China. These switches will aid in highway monitoring and communication systems such as safety, traffic control and video monitoring.
The highway tunnels range from one to two miles in length and connect numerous Chinese highways. Beijing Omate will be using the rugged industrial networking solution of Sixnet to respond to the fluctuating temperatures in addition to the dust and humidity.
Sixnet will be providing Beijing Omate with enterprise-grade features required for ensuring redundancy, management and security. The SLX series of Ethernet switches developed by Sixnet uses ring network configurations and single-mode fiber optic cables to provide fault tolerance and reliable performance for long tunnel distances. The switches also provide SNMP, RMON and support for IGMP multicast control. These features can be utilized for monitoring traffic patterns, managing vehicle toll collections and diverting traffic to avoid accidents.
Liu Yunping, general manager of Beijing Omate, stated that the ability of Sixnet to combine enterprise-class features and rugged reliability was a boon for projects like Yunnan and Shannxi highway tunnels. Michael Li, managing director of Sixnet said that the collaboration of Sixnet switches and Beijing Omate would result in developing a highly intelligent and modern tunnel system.
