Carrier Level 3 Communications, Inc plans to extend Fiber-Optic Backbone to Baltimore Technology Park (BTP), a data center unit located in Baltimore, to support high-speed Ethernet services. The services supplied by Level 3 will enable BTP to provide network connectivity with speeds up to 1 Gbps to its customers and service providers.

Jim Weller, president of BTP, said that his company renders data center services for most companies located in Baltimore and Washington and claimed that collaborating with Level 3 Communications would enable BTP to supply reliable data with faster connectivity.

William Ganey, general manager of Level 3, Washington, D.C. said that the advantage of the company was in delivering reliable and secure services to its customers. He further stated that the key difference between his company and other mid-market companies was in possessing knowledge about the local market and having a good sales support team. The Business Market Group possessed by Level 3 allows the company’s fiber optic networks, metro assets and sales support management to supply superior services to its customers and service providers.
