Innovative Laser Procedure Treats Toenail Fungus

Dr. Mark Wolpa has announced that the Bay Area Foot & Laser Podiatry Group is going to establish a new office in Santa Rosa, Sonoma County on 1st June 2010.

Dr. Wolpa has been practicing privately in the Bay Area since 1977 and has a number of offices in Berkeley, Marin and Walnut Creek in California. He was one of the first physicians in the U.S. to perform an innovative laser treatment called the PinPointe FootLaser beam for treating toenail fungus disease. Dr. Wolpa has done over 1,000 PinPointe FootLaser procedures since last February 2009. The procedure is quite popular among both new and old patients.

It is estimated that about 40 millions of Americans are affected by the Toenail fungus disease, and it predominantly affects those above 40s. In spite of this scenario, an optimum treatment solution was not available before the release of the new laser treatment.

Dr. Wolpa informed that topical therapies and oral medicines do not work effectively and carry numerous side effects, whereas in the PinPointe FootLaser beam procedure, the toenail is pierced and the fungus is vaporized. This technique safely and effectively cures the disease. He added that the laser procedure can be performed in about half-an-hour and patients who undergo this procedure can have fungal-free toes.
