The Morton Arboretum Deploys Environmentally-Efficient Molex LED Lights

The Morton Arboretum is deploying an eco-friendly LED lighting system from Molex Incorporated to achieve environmental as well as cost efficiencies. Molex Transcend RM2 lights consume less power and function more efficiently compared to conventional fluorescent or incandescent lighting. They can be easily integrated into a lighting system too. Unlike current LED systems, the Transcend modules from Molex can be fully recycled.

According to consulting services provider Lumenique, LLC, replacing 50 halogen lamps with Transcend modules would cut annual energy costs by 91%. In addition, annual operating costs, such as materials and labor, would drop 86% while mercury usage would drop 90%.

The LED lighting installation is part of the Arboretum’s initiatives to recognize green practices, products and techniques.  According to Mike Picini, vice president at Molex, his company, a supporter of the Arboretum for a long time, is committed to sustainable technology and energy efficiency.

Kris Bachtell, Morton Arboretum’s vice president, stated that the Arboretum will foster its commitment to sustainability and conservation by exploring new ways. He also added that Morton Arboretum is pleased to partner with Molex. At the Arboretum, the public and the reporters can see the state of the art solid state lights and learn about them.
