New CCTV Camera for Security and Surveillance Applications

Defence Science Technology Laboratory (DSTL) in Britain has designed a new, sophisticated closed-circuit television (CCTV) camera, which can monitor intruders easily and effectively.

The CCTV camera utilizes an advanced high-resolution thermal imaging technology and features a built-in software to detect and track intruders. The DSTL team carried out a trial test to evaluate the effectiveness of the CCTV cameras. The cameras are estimated to be utilized for defence purposes by the year 2015.

DSTL’s Chief Technologist, Andrew Seedhouse, informed that it is difficult to identify intruders by their appearance alone, but they are usually recognized by their suspicious behaviours. He added that CCTV cameras provide an ultimate solution for security and surveillance applications.
