Mega Solar Plant in Italy to be Powered by Sanyo HIT Modules

Sanyo Electric announced that it has received a contract to supply HIT (heterojunction with intrinsic thin layer) solar modules for installation at Mega Solar plant in Brindisi, Italy. These solar panels have the ability to convert energy with high efficiency for generating electricity.

The capacity of the solar power plant is to produce 7.6 MW of electricity. This makes the project the largest order awarded to Sanyo till date. The generated electricity can fulfill the yearly need of 2,500 average houses in Japan.

The Mega Solar plant is being constructed by a group of companies, which is led by Deutsche Bank. The group has rated the HIT solar panels with high marks as the modules deliver 170 W of power output for every square meter.
