Tamron Introduces Advanced Zoom Lenses for Megapixel Cameras

High-definition zoom lenses are typically used for monitoring sensitive places such as coastal areas, harbors and airports. Lenses for these applications were large, heavy and proved to be quite expensive because they required large support systems. Moreover, these lenses are also sensitive to image blurring. These factors limited their entry into other markets such as highway monitoring and large commercial organizations.

To address this need, Tamron has introduced a new, advanced 55X zoom lens for surveillance and security applications. The 55X incorporates the latest technology called the optical Vibration Compensation (VC) mechanism. The VC mechanism also provides stable and high quality images. The 55X provides advanced telephoto features at high resolution, and offers superior and high-definition Video Graphics Array (VGA) HD 720p image quality. The zoom lens can be used with the current series of megapixel cameras.

The 55X supports 1/3-in formats and offers 6-330 mm focal length, which is similar to 2,380 mm telephoto capabilities when transformed to the 35 mm camera configuration. The lens can be board mounted and has a zoom ratio of 55X.

The XLD (Extra Low Dispersion) zoom lens can be used in a number of applications such as industrial complexes, amusement facilities, sports stadium, highway traffics, fixed-point observation, data collection cameras and other scientific applications.
