RCN Metro Optical Networks has joined the Carrier Ethernet exchanges of CENX as a member. RCN Metro will leverage the 10 million ‘On Net’ locations of CENX for Ethernet service, RCN Metro will initially connect to exchanges in Chicago and New York. RCN will use the membership to buy and sell Ethernet Services, expanding its business locally as well as internationally.
With this new connection, the RCN’s access to Ethernet services market in key locations has been extended, creating new business opportunities. Through the connection, CENX offers flawless reach to over 10 million locations for RCN’s customers.
The President of RCN Metro Felipe Alvarez said that becoming a member of CENX exchanges is a part of their strategy to offer high-capacity, economic Ethernet services in combination with their high touch support. The membership creates new opportunities both in the U.S. and the international network line. They selected CENX for its expertise in Carrier Ethernet and services that are in line with the company’s service offerings, he added.
Eric Gillenwater, Worldwide Development Vice President at CENX, welcomed RCN Metro to their fast growing network of Ethernet service providers. With their distinctive structured service offerings, they will help their members to face time-to-market and cost challenges during interconnecting Ethernet services, he noted.
