UL Selects SPI-Sun Simulators for New PV Module Testing Facility in India

Spire reported that its SPI-Sun Simulator 4600SLP has been selected by Underwriters Laboratories (UL) for testing and certifying PV modules.

SPI-Sun Simulator

The simulator will be used at the UL’s new facility in India as the core test equipment gauge. The SPI-Sun simulators are already being used in other facilities of UL in China, U.S. and Germany.

The solar simulators of the company have been used to test most of the thin film and crystalline silicon photovoltaic modules in the world. These simulators possess Class AAA rating and have the ability to offer cost-effective high-volume production. With the company’s proprietary method for controlling the flash or pulse length of the simulator, these solutions enable the labs to gauge PV modules beyond their standards and comprehend the important performance aspects. Other features of the simulators include advanced spectral control and large irradiance range.

The CEO and Chairman of Spire Roger G. Little expressed his excitement over the collaboration with test agencies such as UL, Bodycote, NREL, FSEC, KIER, TÜV, CSA and Intervac. He added that they have set very high standards with the SPI-Sun PV simulators.
