Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and Visionworks have initiated a new charity program to benefit a non-profit organization, New Eyes for the Needy.
Pittsburgh Zoo & PPG Aquarium and Visionworks teamed up last month to gather over 4.500 recycled prescription spectacles. Under the program, individuals who offer a pair of eyeglasses to New Eyes for the Needy gain free admission to the Zoo.
Visionworks’ Regional Vice President, John DiIanni, stated that the company is happy to improve the sight of needy individuals while providing free Zoo admission to those residing in the Pittsburgh area.
New Eyes for the Needy helps in improving the eyesight of disadvantaged people all over the world. Through medical missions, the organization offers prescription glasses to needy people in both USA and other developing countries.
Visionworks, a subsidiary of Eye Care Centers of America, ventured into the Pittsburgh market with a plan to launch eight new branches in the Western Pennsylvania. The company has a complete optical retail facility that stocks a number of both designer and private frames and contact lenses. HVHC is the parent organization of Eye Care Centers of America.
Visionworks offers eye care services and operates over 430 optical retail centers across 35 states. The retail centers also include sophisticated on-site processing labs and provide prompt service on majority of prescription eyeglasses.
