Ocimum Announces Mass Spectrometry Services Using MALDI-TOF System

Ocimum Biosolutions has introduced mass spectrometry services in India by using its (matrix-assisted laser desorption/ionization-time of flight) MALDI-TOF system.

The system offers highly sensitive and dependable mass measurements. With this system, the requirement of individual assay optimization for the molecular characterization and identification becomes minimal.

The MALDI-TOF system enables the characterization of very small amount of samples such as 10-12 to 10-15 moles. It permits high sample throughput and offers more accuracy with faster analysis times. Hence, the system proves to be a cost-effective solution for the characterization of a large number of samples. Moreover, the system can be used to analyze various classes and mixtures of biopolymers such as oligonucleotides, peptides, synthetic polymers and glycoconjugates.

The mass spectrometry system can be applied in different industries including molecular diagnostics, biopharmaceuticals, food and nutrition and environmental research. The company had put the system in use for project management, day-to-day research and for offering biomolecules in GMP conditions together with QC analysis.

The CEO of Ocimum Biosolutions, Anu Acharya expressed their excitement about the release of the services in India. She said that they would help the scientists to manage projects, find solutions to research problems and offer biomolecules in GMP conditions through the services.
