Corning to Present Latest Display Technologies at SID Show

Corning Incorporated (NYSE: GLW) will present its newest display technologies and outlook on what is next in advanced display during Display Week 2010, the annual conference of the Society for Information Display (SID), held next week in Seattle.

Cliff Hund, general manager and president, Corning East Asia, will address business leaders and media on Wednesday May 26, in a presentation before the show opens. Hund will discuss how Corning’s innovation has helped advance the display industry and how the company continues to push the boundaries of what glass can achieve. “Corning’s advanced glass substrate technology is changing the consumer experience,” Hund will say as he discusses the attributes of glass that are becoming more and more important to the future of consumer electronics.

Visitors to the Corning SID booth (#641) and those attending Corning presentations can experience the latest in market trends and learn more about a number of emerging display technologies that demonstrate the depth and breadth of Corning's expertise in the industry, including:

  • Gorilla® glass – Now featured in more than 80 devices, Gorilla glass is an environmentally friendly protective window used in high-end displays. By undergoing a chemical strengthening process that gives it unique properties, Gorilla glass is especially suited for use as a durable, scratch-resistant liquid crystal display (LCD) cover and is ideal for touch-screen technologies.
  • Green laser technology – By applying its laser, optics, and modeling expertise, Corning developed a high-quality, compact, and efficient green light source for use in embedded microprojectors. This technology will play a critical role in the mobile display devices of tomorrow, where consumers can play, view, and share with ease.
  • 3-D technologies – Emerging TV cover materials support 3-D capability; Learn how Corning’s glass is at the forefront of the next generation of television viewing.
  • Generation 10 glass substrate – The industry's largest glass substrate allows for the efficient production of a range of panel sizes, offering display manufacturers superior economies of scale.
