Canadian Solar announced that it has donated its solar panels to a Georgian family in collaboration with the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” (EMHE) program broadcasted by ABC.
The company has donated its CS6P-230W solar modules, which are polycrystalline in nature, and received high ratings in PV-USA standard, which assesses the performance and power of solar modules in real-world applications. The solar system to be installed in the house of the Williams family will generate 8.4 MW of electricity in a year. This will help reduce their dependency on electricity derived from coal as well as save on monthly energy bills.
Jeremy Williams, who is a football coach in a local high school, was diagnosed with ALS (Lou Gehrig’s disease), just a few years after his son Jacob was born with Spina bifida. Inspite of the major setbacks due to health issues over the years, the family continues to inspire their community and the audience of EMHE.
Mike Miskovsky, Canadian Solar’s General Manager for U.S. operations, said that the company is pleased to help such an inspiring family in improving their life and making them realize the advantages of solar energy. The Project will be aired on ABC on May 16, 2010, at 8:00 pm Eastern Time.
