Nemotek Technologie, a manufacturer of customized Wafer-Level Cameras for portable applications, today introduced the first wafer-level, one-element lens with a wider field of view.
The new lens independently designed by Nemotek covers more optical space then traditional one-element lenses, enabling greater viewing range with an ultra-thin form factor. Mobile phone manufacturers and image sensor vendors are now able to respond to the growing demand for cameras and work with a single source on design, lens development and manufacturing.
Nemotek is the first to leverage the benefits of wafer-level technology to customize a wider field of view that is up to 65 degrees with its new one-element lens while traditionally lenses tend to be limited to 60 degrees field of view. Ideally suited for next-generation mobile phones, and more specifically, video applications, the new one-element lens features high image quality and extremely low distortion. Expanding the market for wafer-level technology, Nemotek’s new one-element lens pushes industry technological limits to obtain higher lens specifications for mobile users.
“This is a milestone for our company to completely design, develop and manufacture this lens in-house at our facility in Morocco,” said Jacky Perdrigeat, CEO of Nemotek Technologie. “Even when placed at the same camera position as traditional one-element lens, our lens is still able to cover a larger area. Combining the new lens with the ability to develop and customize solutions marks our industry position as we look to lead in image advancement for the new generation of mobile phones.”
This new customized lens, currently available for customer sampling, enhances Nemotek Technologies portfolio of wafer-level optics and wafer-level cameras. The company recently debut, and is also customer sampling, its two-element lens.
