This week at Light+Building, the world's premier architecture and technology exposition, three European manufacturers launched new luminaires based on LUXIM's Light Emitting Plasma™ (LEP) technology. The companies include:
- ComGroup of Croatia launched a Parabolic Luminaire, a series of elegant and decorative fixtures designed for street and area lighting applications.
- Leuchtec of Germany introduced a street light featuring LUXIM's STA 41 product. This is the first in a series of plasma-based fixtures from Leuchtec.
- Gavita Nederland BV, the market leader in horticultural lighting, launched the new GAN LEP, a full-spectrum luminaire designed for plant growing in sunlight-free rooms.
Also at the show, visitors got their first look at LUXIM's newest LEP product, the STA-41. It was featured for the first time earlier this year in a new street light designed by Stray Light Optical Technologies. The product also provided the light source for a new mobile lighting unit deployed at last month's Academy Awards ceremony.
At 23,000 lumens, the STA-41 is the brightest and most powerful light source for general lighting applications. Its compact form factor means it can be flexibly deployed to deliver energy savings in multiple applications, while its 50,000-hour life is three times longer than the nearest competitor. And it can be dimmed to 20 percent—a feature that offers additional energy savings.
Speaking from the trade fair, LUXIM's Vice President of Sales, Geoff Brown, said, "If this year's show is any indicator, LEP's moment has clearly arrived, with traffic to our booth at an all-time high. Visitors are awed by the LUXIM exhibit, spectacularly illuminated by a hand full of tiny LiFi bulbs. We're excited to see that momentum turn into sales as more and more lighting leaders switch to plasma to differentiate their novel new fixtures."
At their booth, LUXIM executives exploited the new iPad to showcase the advantages of the STA-41. Replacing conventional display technologies, visitors to LUXIM's booth used the tool to explore the product's features and effortlessly navigate its myriad applications in multiple media formats.
