Wireless OEMs Select Gennum's Optical IC solutions

Gennum Corporation (TSX:GND) today announced that its 6G IC solutions for SFP+ modules have been adopted for a large scale wireless backhaul build-out in China.

With the widespread adoption of video transmission over wireless networks, data rates and bandwidth requirements have exponentially increased for wireless OEMs.

Wireless OEMs are now moving from third and fourth generation platforms to new platforms such as SFP+ which support data rates of 6 and 10 Gigabits/second, the fastest speeds available for global large scale build-outs. Optical module suppliers have selected Gennum's industry-leading solutions to accommodate these unprecedented data rates, while offering their customers, wireless network solution providers, the highest level of quality, reliability and signal integrity within their systems.

"Gennum's leadership in the optical networking market has now expanded to include SFP+, 10G EPON, Fibre Channel, and Ethernet platforms. Gennum is successfully expanding into the datacom and telecom markets with its industry-leading optical solutions. We are excited to see market readiness for products that enable 6Gb/s and 10Gb/s data rates, particularly with the current wireless network build-out in China," said Dr. Franz Fink, President and Chief Executive Officer, Gennum Corporation.
