Rakuten Baseball Incorporated announced today it has completed installation of a Mitsubishi Electric Corporation Diamond Vision large-scale display system at Kleenex Stadium Miyagi above the stands between right and center fields.
The Diamond Vision screen, which measures 20.6 meters by 16.3 meters with a total surface area of 336.8 square meters, is the largest outdoor screen among baseball stadiums in Japan. Incorporating high-luminance light-emitting diodes (LEDs) aligned in a 15mm dot pitch, the screen is able to display high-definition video content.
Rakuten Baseball Incorporated was the first Japanese baseball organization to introduce ribbon vision in a stadium in 2007, and T-LED, a T-shaped screen installed behind home plate, in 2009. Both screens were manufactured by Mitsubishi Electric Corporation.
Rakuten Baseball Incorporated decided to install the screen above the stands between right and center fields in order to realize a more dynamic game-watching experience, and selected Mitsubishi Electric's Diamond Vision because of the company's experience in superior visual system technologies.
The Diamond Vision will be operated from Tohoku Rakuten Eagles' home opener scheduled for March 27 this year, complementing the existing scoreboard, ribbon vision and T-LED displays.
