COMPTEL PLUS 2010 to Feature Optical Breakthroughs from Glimmerglass

Glimmerglass, the leading supplier of intelligent optical layer management solutions for telecommunications service providers, today announced that it will display and demonstrate at COMPTEL PLUS (booth no. 826) the latest breakthroughs in optical systems that enable service providers to provision, monitor and reconfigure circuits in real time, instead of days or weeks.

Using Glimmerglass solutions, telecommunications operators can now remotely reconfigure optical paths in response to network outages, including software failures in layer 2 and layer 3, hardware failures, fiber cuts, and network adds and changes.

By minimizing truck rolls to distant or inaccessible locations, Glimmerglass significantly reduces operating costs. Glimmerglass solutions lower mean time to repair (MTTR) for service providers, helping them maintain five 9’s availability and reduce SLA penalties.

“COMPTEL is an ideal setting to discuss the transformational leaps forward in managing the optical layer for service providers,” said Jim Donnelly, Glimmerglass Vice President of Sales for North America. “Glimmerglass solutions have been deployed by major telecommunications carriers to reduce OPEX by more than 30 percent and pay for themselves in less than 10 months. Our solutions dramatically reduce OPEX and SLA penalties, increase network availability and enable rapid response for lawful interception.”

COMPTEL PLUS Spring 2010, held March 14-17 in Nashville, is the preeminent networking event for innovative communications companies, providing attendees the opportunity to learn about new products, services and industry trends.
