Econo-Keys, a leader in washable medical peripherals, has redesigned its most popular waterproof keyboard for higher backlight efficiency.
The EKB-97-TP is a sealed keyboard with a unique design that combines a slim footprint case with an integrated touchpad and number pad. Its revised blue LED backlighting now has an improved light transmission layer to create a more even backlight. This allows the keyboard to maintain lower power requirements, and extends the life of the unit.
"After a very successful introduction of the EKB-97-TP last year, we were determined to make one of our best products even better," Jim Mayo, Econo-Keys company controller, said. "With this new backlight design, we still maintain the high efficiency of minimized components at the PCB level, while delivering an improved user experience."
Already in use in several major hospitals across the country, the EKB-97-TP's thin, no-slip silicone rubber case makes it ideal for use in mobile carts and on mounted installations. As a popular choice in dark labs and patient rooms, the EKB-97-TP provides sufficient lighting for error-free data entry without disturbing nearby patients.
Because keyboards are a common source of cross-contamination in medical settings, the EKB-97-TP is fully sealed and washable to meet any rigorous hygienic protocol. The EKB-97-TP can be disinfected with hospital-grade disinfectants at the workstation, without the need to unplug or disrupt the work area.
The EKB-97-TP will be displayed during the annual Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society (HIMSS) conference, held in Atlanta on March 1-3, at booth #1702.
