HP Selects EZ-MES System to Support Production of Flexible Displays

EazyWorks LLC, a developer of software applications for high tech manufacturing companies, announced that Hewlett Packard Corporation, the world’s largest technology company, has selected EZ-MES, their manufacturing execution system, to support the manufacturing of flexible displays.

HP has developed an award winning manufacturing process for self-aligned imprint lithography, which uses 3D imprint lithography to define electronic circuitry on large rolls of thin plastic. This allows the creation of fine circuit geometries on thin and flexible substrates without expensive alignment steps. While developing this process, HP needed to implement a complex manufacturing control system, which would allow them to track material through the manufacturing process, collect process related data and then quickly modify the process as it was being developed.

“As we ramp our manufacturing capabilities, a manufacturing execution system is critical for us to adhere to high-quality standards while remaining cost conscious. After an extensive evaluation, EZ-MES was selected because we found it to be the most flexible product for making the constant changes necessary to support an evolving manufacturing process, plus it was the most cost effective. An unexpected benefit was its ability to easily handle remote access in a secure IT environment,” said Carl Taussig, the Director of the Information Surfaces Lab for HP Palo Alto.

By selecting the browser based product, HP was able to have their one-man implementation team work with the EazyWorks support staff to have a fully functional MES implementation up and running in approximately two weeks. Marcel van der Vliet, CEO for EazyWorks, stated, “During the evaluation HP challenged us to prove EZ-MES could meet their requirements, then after making the selection, they asked us to support a rapid implementation. It was definitely a challenge and I’m glad we were able to meet and hopefully exceed their expectations. In addition, we are extremely excited to add a customer the size and stature of HP to our client base.”
