Amana Contracting and Steel Buildings, one of the leading names in fast track and turnkey construction in the Middle East, has adopted the one-of-its-kind 'Laser Screed' technology for concrete floor slabs in its time-sensitive projects, thereby setting new standards in the regional construction industry.
The 'Laser Screed' technology offers much quicker turnaround than conventional concrete construction saving over 400 per cent in project execution time. As a rough estimate, a 1,000 square metre concrete floor slab can be completed in less than 24 hours with 'Laser Screed' technology, while it would ideally take about three to four days in the conventional way. The technology also requires a minimum set-up time besides extending superior quality, safety and accuracy.
Details about Amana's adoption of 'Laser Screed' technology were unveiled at a seminar on 'Advanced Slab Concreting Technologies', conducted recently at the Sharjah Millennium Hotel by the company. The seminar was attended by leading consultants, developers, government officials and representatives of the construction industry in Sharjah and Northern Emirates.

Laser Screed is an innovative concrete slab technology that is comparatively quicker and safer than the conventional reinforcement and translates to lower transportation costs as well as savings on building superstructure.
The technology comprises a beam vibrator that pushes steel fibers deep down into the concrete. The addition of 4-5mm hardener on the surface insures that the steel fibers do not make their way to the top. The laser transmitters create a virtual beam that can allow casting: flat slabs, single slope slabs even two slopes slabs Moreover, with additional 3D profile software, the Laser Screed can even cast a road profile.
