PDN PhotoPlus International Conference + Expo, named “one of the top events in New York City” by Crain’s New York Business, announced that more than 27,000 professional photographers and photo enthusiasts attended this year's annual trade show to learn about new products and services from 300 companies.
Despite the slow economy, organizers of the show were very pleased with the number of attendees and companies represented at this year's show. More importantly, the companies who exhibited were excited about the seemingly never-ending foot traffic throughout the 3-day show.
"We are extremely pleased with the turnout from this year's show, both from an attendee perspective as well as the number of companies who participated in spite of a down economy," says Jeff McQuilkin, Group Show Director for The Nielsen Company, which owns the PDN PhotoPlus Expo show. "Our goal is to make the show as robust and interactive as possible for our exhibitors and their feedback has been extremely positive. The new Video Pavilion we added this year also provided attendees with a look at how still photography and video are converging and we look forward to expanding that aspect of the show next year," McQuilkin added.
"PhotoPlus Expo was the perfect venue and provided inroads to a new and expanding market for us," explains Dae Mellencamp, General Manager of Vimeo, the leading video sharing website for creative professionals and serious enthusiasts. "Photographers are beginning to learn more about how video can be an effective addition to their business and we were able to show them how Vimeo’s services can help with their expansion."
"PhotoPlus Expo 2009 is one of the premiere photography venues for Imagenomic, and was an important show for us to introduce our groundbreaking software products to this market back in 2006," says David McDonell, CEO and co-founder of Imagenomic, a leading developer of imaging software tools such as Portraiture 2 for automated skin retouching. "Despite the current economy, we were impressed with the number of engaged and motivated attendees at this year's show, as well as the myriad business networking opportunities with both incumbent and emerging industry providers. PPE continues to be the preferred photographic event at the major retail and industry level," McDonell added.
Aside from the 300 approximate companies displaying their latest technologies and services, PhotoPlus Expo's expansive lineup of seminars and workshops continues to be a major attraction for attendees. The combination of general session presentations from industry legends such as Harry Benson and James Nachtwey to educational seminars from industry influencers including Julieanne Kost, John Paul Caponigro, and Greg Gorman, presents PhotoPlus Expo as much more than "just a trade show."
PDN PhotoPlus Expo 2010 will be held from October 28-30, 2010 at the Jacob Javits Center in New York.
