Advanced Photonix Subsidiary Receives Order for High-Speed Optical Receivers

Picometrix, LLC, an Advanced Photonix company (NYSE Amex: API), announced today that it has been selected to supply high-speed optical receivers (HSOR) to a leading submarine networks systems provider.

The annual commitment is scheduled to be over $700,000 with volume shipments starting in the company's FY2010 fourth quarter. Oceans cover over 70% of the planet and submarine networks act as data highways linking continents together for global communications.

These receivers have been designed with extended bandwidth capability for advanced ultra long haul undersea telecommunications, which requires greater than 12.5 Gbps with RZ-DPSK modulation and Forward Error Correction (FEC) to provide longer distance capability without dispersion issues. The Company's full line of high performance 10 Gbps High-Speed Optical Receivers are packaged in industry standard and custom packages and come in either PIN or Avalanche Photodiode (APD) configuration.

Richard (Rick) Kurtz, Chairman and CEO of API, stated: "We are excited to continue achieving new design wins in the downturned global economy. Being selected by this global undersea system OEM as a supplier for their advanced products is a testament to the superior performance and exceptional quality of our products. We are working toward additional design wins with this global OEM and anticipate a long and mutually beneficial partnership."
