In addition to serving as the home of the Seawolves football, men’s and women’s lacrosse and men’s and women’s soccer teams, LaValle Stadium will also serve as the host venue for the 2010 NCAA men’s lacrosse quarterfinals and the 2011 NCAA women’s lacrosse national championship. The new system has been completely installed and includes a video display, two scoreboards and a sound system.

“The new video display and two new scoreboards are exciting additions to LaValle Stadium,” Jim Fiore, Stony Brook University Director of Athletics, said. “Our fans’ experience will be greatly enhanced as a result of these impressive upgrades. As the recognized leader in this industry, Daktronics was phenomenal in guiding us through the installation process and then in training our staff to best utilize all of the capabilities of this new system. We are thrilled to make these enhancements to one of the top venues in the Northeast.”

The LED video display, utilizing Daktronics HD-16 technology, measures nearly 20 feet high by almost 50 feet wide. The display offers Stony Brook fans ultra-wide viewing angles, increased contrast with deeper blacks and more vibrant colors, and world-class video processing for improved image quality. When not showing live video, the display can be used to show dazzling graphics, animations, instant replays, up-to-the-minute statistics and prerecorded advertisements.

In addition to the state-of-the-art video board, two new scoreboards were also part of the Stony Brook project. One scoreboard, which measures eight feet high by 32 feet wide, sits underneath the display. A second auxiliary scoreboard measures eight feet high by 25 feet wide and assists in keeping fans informed and into the game.

A Sportsound® 1500HD sound system was also installed in LaValle Stadium. Combined with the scoreboard and video display options, Sportsound® systems deliver pounding bass energy, smooth mid and high range frequencies and high impact entertainment. This system ensures excellent sound projection, clear and intelligible speech and a powerful audio experience for Stony Brook fans.

Daktronics LED video and messaging display technology offers a long lifetime with minimal maintenance and low power consumption, providing value and excitement for years to come.
