Quartics, Inc., and Acer, today announced a partnership that delivers a new, higher standard of video experience for consumers: “Beyond HD.”
Defined as a viewing experience that surpasses HD quality for movies, games, and streaming media, Beyond HD is considered to be the next level in viewing quality and one that meets consumers’ increasing levels of expectations for an improved experience with electronics devices. The two companies will work in partnership to deliver a Beyond HD experience in a wide range of consumer electronics products offered by Acer that are enabled with the new Qvu™ Solution, which also was introduced today by Quartics. For more information on Qvu, see the companion Quartics news release titled “Quartics Revolutionizes the Consumer Video Experience for Netbooks and Laptops.”
Ben Bajarin, director of the consumer technology practice at analyst firm Creative Strategies, said, “Just as makers of HDTVs are enjoying the boom in demand, products like Qvu that offer a similar – or better – experience on Netbooks and Laptops could dominate the exploding market for devices that enable a richer consumer video experience.”
David Lee, associate vice president of the mobile computing business unit for Acer, Inc., said, “We see Beyond HD as a new benchmark for viewing quality in the consumer electronics industry. We are pleased to be working in partnership with Quartics, the leader in HD video enhancement, for the benefit of customers globally using Acer products.” Acer, one of the world’s largest vendors of PCs and Notebooks, was recently rated as the company having the most valuable Taiwan brand in 2009 with the highest appraised brand value at US$1.241 billion, according to the government-sponsored Taiwan External Trade Development Council (TAITRA).
Sherjil Ahmed, president and founder of Quartics, said, “This is an exciting time for consumers who now can experience the next level of video quality. Together with Acer, Quartics has broken down technical barriers resulting in Beyond HD coming to portable devices. As consumer expectations for video continue to elevate to new, higher levels, we stand ready to capitalize on this growing demand.”
