Brands Can Leverage Mobile Barcode Technology to Engage Consumer in Highly Interactive Format
More than 70 percent of all mobile phones in the United States have a camera. Tapping into the hundreds of millions of consumers who carry these devices is the holy-grail for marketers worldwide.
Kyp, a global brand engagement specialist, and Scanbuy, the global leader in mobile barcode solutions, have joined together to do just that by empowering brands with the ability to engage consumers in an interactive way using their mobile camera phones.
Scanbuy's technology, called ScanLife, will be incorporated in Kyp's suite of marketing solutions. Kyp creates customer engagement solutions that produce richer learning experiences and promote behavior change. The Company's primary platform, called the iKyp, is a patented, uniquely versatile, interactive marketing medium that delivers information that can be easily digested, used and retained by recipients.
Scanbuy's technology enables consumers to interact with brands by using their camera phone to photograph, or 'scan', 2D barcodes printed on any media (i.e. posters, iKyps, flyers, websites, etc.). The ScanLife application will read the barcode and launch a specific website or web-based application, download content or a coupon, dial a phone number, compose an SMS/email, or receive a contact or calendar appointment, allowing brands to immediately engage with consumers.
"Scanbuy's technology is superior in the mobile space. Unlike other cumbersome platforms, our solution does not require the consumer to text (SMS) the provider and wait for a response each time, nor does it require an advertiser to pay for decoding the response for the consumer," said Nicholas Miller, Chief Executive Officer of Kyp. "Scanbuy's mobile technology with Kyp's innovative marketing solutions provides brands with a seamless solution that is both measurable and targeted."
Kyp is a marketing company that specializes in the development of unique consumer engagement solutions. The company has created technologies that have enabled its customers to realize a nearly 30 percent level of consumer engagement across its different campaigns. The company works with major brands in the pharmaceutical, media, financial services, consumer packaged goods and video game industries.
Mr. Miller added, "The phenomenal growth in mobile media market represents an unprecedented opportunity for innovative marketers. The ScanLife offering will enable brands to further communicate with the consumer by providing them with an immediate and actionable next step of engagement."
The relationship between Scanbuy and Kyp is a key element to Kyp's mobile initiative and is designed to integrate with physical marketing pieces like iKyps to create a richer engagement between brand and consumers.
Mr. Miller continued, "Kyp's focus is to bring our clients the most impactful, cost-effective vehicles to engage their target consumer base. We have seen a tremendous response from consumers who receive our marketing products, and our clients are seeing levels of engagement that are off the charts for the out-of-home industry."
Scanbuy's EZCode format has been developed specifically for use with mobile phone cameras and is compatible with the largest number of phone models and carriers. The application is being preloaded by leading operators and handset manufacturers around the world, or consumers can download it for every mobile operating system. Once the software is on the phone, the consumer simply scans the barcode and receives the instant communiqué from the brand.
"Kyp has created a platform for many of the biggest brands in the world to reach consumers in a new and powerful format that will increase their return on investment dramatically. The marriage of our technology with Kyp's marketing expertise and distribution channel is a perfect fit," said Jonathan Bulkeley, CEO, Scanbuy.
