Next Generation SynJet Cooler Unveiled by Nuventix for Philips Fortimo LED DLM

Nuventix Continues to Broaden Its LED Thermal Solution Portfolio, Accelerating LED Luminaire Design and Development

Nuventix, Inc., innovator of SynJet® active thermal management solutions, today announced the general availability of the next generation of the SynJet Universal DLM Cooler for the Philips Fortimo LED Downlight Module (DLM). Nuventix’s SynJets are the smallest, most reliable, and adaptable thermal management solutions in the solid state lighting industry. The introduction of the 120mm compact SynJet cooler announcement caps a successful 2009 for Nuventix by delivering the smallest thermal solution available for the Philips Fortimo DLM.

The SynJet Universal 120 DLM Cooler is the perfect size for recessed downlight applications, where clearance is tight, specifically window displays, restaurants and museum lighting schemes. This smaller cooling solution allows for less than 60mm in total height. Additionally, it enables 2000 lumens in small profile, offers silent operation, over 100K hours of lifetime cooling and the highest possible energy efficiency for a thermal cooling solution. The SynJet Universal 120 DLM cooler will be on display at LEDs 2009 from October 20-22 at the San Diego Convention Center.

“Our new Universal 120 Cooler is a natural extension of our cooler line for the Philips Fortimo DLM. With this addition, we now have the smallest, quietest and most reliable product offerings for the Fortimo,” said Mick Wilcox, director of marketing, Nuventix. “The SynJet Universal 120 DLM Cooler provides designers with a smaller plug-and-play thermal solution that allows them to get to market quickly with the most attractive and reliable luminaire.”

The SynJet Universal 120 DLM Cooler is lightweight and small size, one-third the size of a passive cooling solution, which allows for an easier design – in turn, creating the ability to address a much larger segment of the market. The new luminaire design offers flexibility for installations that require both height limited areas and spots requiring small rough-in holes, without sacrificing high brightness. The circular shape can fit into a 120mm hole while needing <90mm of height for the light and SynJet combination.

“Nuventix continues to be an important complementary partner in bringing the next generation of the Fortimo family to market,” said Geert v/d Meer, global senior program manager, LED modules, at Philips Lighting Eindhoven. “The incorporation of active cooling in Fortimo based luminaires supports Philips to lead in bringing high lumen LED technology to the general lighting market.”

Nuventix has successfully secured additional funding in 2009 as well as announced several new thermal management solutions, further simplifying LED lighting designs. Additionally, Nuventix has partnered with power suppliers Bias Power, National Semiconductors, and ROAL to give LED luminaire designers a full complement of LED and SynJet driver options for high power LED luminaires.
