The FlexTech Alliance, focused on developing the electronic display and the flexible, printed electronics industry supply chain, today announced that registration opens for its 9th annual Flexible Electronics and Displays Conference and Exhibition.
The flexible, printed and organic electronics market will increase from $1.92 billion in 2009 to $57.16 billion in 2019. In 2009, $80 million will be spent on e-paper displays and $60 million on electroluminescent displays. Companies seeking to profit from these opportunities need to mark their calendars for February 1-4, 2010 and the 2010 “Flex” Conference at the Pointe Hilton Squaw Peak Resort in Phoenix, Arizona.
Last year’s conference attracted 400 attendees, including recognized executives, managers, engineers, educators and scientists from around the world. The conferences included over 100 presentations that provided business strategies & projections, as well as in-depth technology overviews. The Flex Conference is recognized as not only the premier high value, content-driven events for printed electronics, but also as an excellent opportunity to network and dialogue with colleagues, customers and suppliers.
Kicking off the three-day Business and Technical Conference will be a keynote address by Mark Bernstein, President and Center Director for PARC (Palo Alto Research Center). Bernstein will share his thoughts and observations on flexible electronics as a strategic technology and how it fits into PARC’s research relationships with its industry partners. Motivated by his passion for moving technologies out of the research lab and into real-world applications, Bernstein has developed PARC's business strategy, defined its organizational structure, and expanded customer relationships in challenging new fields like flexible electronics. Bernstein notes, "FlexTech's Conference brings together the key players in industry, start-ups, R&D organizations, and academic institutions from across the world. This provides the ideal milieu for creating the shared understanding and relationships needed to move flexible electronics to the next level.”
In 2010, the Flex Conference will feature over 80 business and technical talks, short courses, student research and "late breaking results" poster sessions on flexible displays, materials, manufacturing approaches, developments in flexible and printed electronics, solid state lighting and OLEDs. Additional topic areas and sessions will be comprised of touch products, smart sensor technology, electronics Integration-hybrid solutions, energy storage & thin film batteries, substrates & barriers, flexible solar and photovoltaics, inspection, testing & reliability, end-users.
Some of the organizations presenting include 3M, Daetwyler R&D, Flexible Display Center, Holst Centre, Kent Displays, Konarka, Mead Westvaco, Nth Degree, NanoGram, DuPont Teijin, NanoMarkets, NTERA, PARC, Solicore, Sumitomo Bakelite, Touch Technologies, and University of Illinois at Urbana Champaign. By popular demand, the Monday short course series will offer half-day tutorials in printing processes and technologies, touch applications and products, and cost of ownership and cost models.
