Advanced Photonix Begins Volume Shipment of High Speed Optical Receivers to Major OEM

Advanced Photonix, Inc. has announced that it has begun volume shipments of its 10Gb/s APD high speed optical receivers (HSOR) to a major European System OEM.

This new OEM customer has made commitments to purchase more than $1 million of our 10Gb/s APD HSOR over the next 12 months. These receivers have been designed for use on three different product platforms that the OEM sells into telecommunications metro core and metro access markets.

API's new line of 10Gb/s High Speed optical Receivers are packaged in the smallest industry standard SFF 17-pin package and come in either PIN or Avalanche Photodiode (APD) configuration. The Company's OC-192 (10Gb/s) products meet Telcordia GR-468 standards and are designed for use in Telecommunication and Test & Measurement markets.

Richard (Rick) Kurtz Chairman and CEO of API stated: "We are pleased to be selected by this European System OEM as a supplier for their 10Gb/s product lines. Our new products are being recognized for their superior performance and sensitivity, lowest profile standard package, industry leading stability over a wide operating temperature range, and lower voltage operating requirements. We look forward to a long and mutually beneficial partnership with this global system OEM."
