NYLasik's Doctor Leonard Bley Officially Adopts Laser Assisted Cataract Surgery

Dr. Leonard Bley announced today that he has officially brought laser assisted cataract surgery to NYLasik's list of available procedures.

Laser assisted cataract surgery uses a femtosecond laser to replace or assist in the use of hand held surgical tools for the corneal incision, the anterior capsulotomy, and the lens and cataract fragmentation.

The use of a laser reportedly improves the precision and accuracy of each step, thereby reducing the risk of surgical error, and improving vision as compared to standard forms of cataract surgery.

Dr. Bley is one of a few selected New York City surgeons to officially adopt the procedure. According to the website, "Dr. Bley controls a bladeless, computer-controlled laser to perform cataract surgery with exacting, individualized precision not attainable with traditional surgical methods."

"We have better and more efficient instrumentation and lasers, larger ablation and blend zones, thinner flaps created by latest generation microkeratomes and femtosecond lasers, and the ability to treat larger degrees of myopia, astigmatism and hyperopia," says the website.

Dr. Bley is internationally recognized as a leader in the fields of cataract and refractive surgery. He is one of a very select group of surgeons offering LASIK vision correction as well as LASIK alternatives such as Intra-ocular contact lens implantation and clear-lens extraction. His company, NYLasik, currently houses the only "all-laser" cataract removal system in the city, and he has performed over 30,000 cataract and refractive procedures leading up to his official roll out of the procedure.
