Brightness LLC, an exclusive distributor of Revolution Lighting Technologies high performance LED lighting products, today announced the completion of an LED retrofit project for Villas at Harbor Isles, a gated waterfront townhouse condo community in Dania, Florida.
The project included the installation of Revolution Lighting's industry leading Lindy model post top light fixture as a replacement to existing fixture heads to reduce retrofit lighting energy use by 60%.
The project, completed in early February, sought to increase the quality of light throughout the complex, while also providing a uniform light color and decreasing high maintenance costs. Brightness LLC proposed a solution involving the replacement of antiquated exterior lighting, consisting of metal halide post top fixtures with Revolution Lighting's Lindy Model DPTLY1 55-watt warm white post top light fixtures.
The installation of Revolution Lighting's Lindy fixtures has dramatically improved both the brightness and consistency of the street lighting throughout the Villas of Harbor Isles community. In addition, the retrofit lighting will reduce energy use, saving more than 100,000 KWs per year, for an annual savings of more than $10,000. The project has received positive feedback from its residents, which has led to discussions with property management group Associa Florida about utilizing Revolution Lighting solutions at its other communities in the future.
"We could not be happier with the installation of Revolution Lighting's LED fixtures. A board member commented that the nighttime lighting feels like a high quality Hollywood set," said Rick Goldfarb, Villas of Harbor Isles property manager. "Revolution Lighting's LED fixtures have allowed us to become a more sustainable community, significantly improving aesthetics, and nighttime safety, while reducing operating expenses to benefit our residents."
"We are pleased to have the opportunity to work with the wonderful community of Villas at Harbor Isles to provide them with a more attractive, energy efficient outdoor lighting experience," said Carlos Martinangeli, President and Founder, Brightness LLC. "Revolution Lighting's LED fixtures are at the top of the industry, and were the ideal solution to meeting and exceeding the needs of the community. We look forward to working with Associa Florida in the future to meet the lighting needs of other communities within its portfolio."
There are approximately 26.5 million streetlights in the United States today, consuming the same amount of energy as 1.9 million houses -- an estimated national total of $2 billion in energy costs. With high maintenance costs also an issue, upgrading and replacing aged streetlight fixtures to LED technologies will improve energy efficiency by more than 60%. Combined with a longer life lamp -- greater than 70,000 hours -- maintenance costs will also be reduced.
