Applied Optoelectronics, Inc., a leading provider of fiber-optic access network products for the cable broadband, internet data center, and fiber-to-the-home markets, will be demonstrating a 100 gigabit per second (Gbps) link using its proprietary transceiver technology at the Optical Fiber Communications (OFC) conference that is taking place on March 22-24, in Anaheim, California at booth #1415.
This demonstration will feature AOI’s latest 4x25G CWDM QSFP28 optical transceiver solution, which utilizes its proprietary 25G uncooled DFB lasers and internally-manufactured light engines. The transceivers operate over a wide temperature range of -5oC to 70oC, which is necessary for reliable use in demanding data center applications. AOI will also have its 100G-SR4 and 100G-PSM4 transceivers available for demonstration upon request.
The QSFP28 transceiver modules on demonstration are the predominant types being deployed in intra-data center applications where they are used to connect high capacity switches that route traffic within the data center. AOI has already announced volume shipments of these devices, starting in late 2015. All three 100 Gbps variants, including CWDM4, PSM4, and SR4 are currently available directly from AOI.
