Windstream, a leading provider of advanced network and cloud communications, announced an expanded Wavelength Division Multiplexing (WDM) – or "Wave" – service offering to meet enterprise customers demand for dedicated, high bandwidth data center connectivity solutions. The announcement is one of a series highlighting Windstream's fiber-based, high-bandwidth service expansion following successful network expansion and modernization efforts this year.
The Wave service, delivered over Windstream's nationwide 121,000 mile fiber network, gives Business, Finance, Healthcare, Media, Government and Education customers in 44 markets access to connectivity options ranging from 1G to 100G. Along with Windstream's most recent network modernization announcements – including its new 500G routes from Denver and Carrier Solutions network expansion – the addition of Wave services to Windstream's growing portfolio of enterprise solutions addresses the rising demand in the marketplace for raw bandwidth. Wave service transports business critical data traffic with low latency, transparency and security between locations, offering virtually unlimited dedicated bandwidth scalability to enterprise customers.
"Wave services allow our enterprise customers to leverage Windstream's future-ready fiber network for secure, dedicated, high-speed connectivity to data centers and mission critical corporate locations," said Joseph Harding, Windstream's enterprise executive vice president and chief marketing officer. "Our ongoing investment in our long-haul and regional network modernization allows us to deliver the bandwidth these customers need today and develop the virtualization capabilities they will demand tomorrow."
With Windstream's Wave service, customers can gain control over their networks with increased transparency and the ability to build protection networks with end-to-end service visibility. The solution offers unparalleled diversity and protection with 1+1 Optical Transport Network (OTN) switching protection on the core network and custom designed diversity by delivering customer-specific routes, cities or POP diversity requests.
